  Wednesday, March 17, 2010
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Sierra Health Foundation
Chambers of commerce have long been excellent resources for businesses to connect, collaborate, and partner with in order to increase their networks and grow professional relationships. Some Chambers are now putting initiatives in place to not only increase value for their traditional business members, but for the not-for-profit community as well. Attend this session and learn more about what one regional Chamber is doing to help all Sacramento regional not-for-profits develop deeper and more sustainable relationships with businesses.

Matthew Mahood, President & CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber, will talk about Project Inspire, the Metro Chamber's community development initiative and other "out of the box" ideas for how nonprofits can connect more with businesses.

Mr. Mahood has an extensive background as an executive in business operations that spans two decades and various capacities of private and non-profit sector industries.

As President and CEO of the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, he oversees one of the largest chambers of commerce in California with nearly 2,300 member businesses who employ roughly 175,000 employees. The Metro Chamber has members throughout the six-county Sacramento region, a staff of 25 and an annual operating budget that exceeds $5 million dollars annually. Under his leadership since January 2002, the organization has experienced significant revenue growth, stabilized its financial position, and increased the organization’s ability to influence critical public policy and economic development issues, across the six-county Sacramento region.

Mr. Mahood started his career with United Parcel Service; then later joined the FedEx, BAX Global and Webvan.com in various management and senior level management positions focused on operations, customer service, sales, human resources, marketing and general management. He is a member of more than sixteen boards, task forces, and commissions.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Communication & Public Relations from California State University, Hayward.
